The Molteni&C Tuscany chaise longue created by Naoto Fukasawa interprets the iconic vistas of the Italian landscape through the lens of his own aesthetic culture, merging stylistic cues and inspiration in a way that captures the finest of both worlds – Italian and Japanese.
This beautiful chaise longue draws on a long-standing tradition that dates back to the 1920s & 30s when this type of furniture was born. Tuscany embodies the idea of comfort, with its structure expertly moulded according to the natural lines of the body. Its silhouette provides a sense of lightness and fluidity, with an innovative design that is both visually harmonious and deeply relaxing.
Tuscany is the result of meticulous technical development by the Research and Development Department at Molteni&C, which, together with the designer, created the ideal balance and proportions for the chaise’s unique shape. The smooth, rounded legs are made from solid wood and are connected by a metal H-frame, providing a sturdy and stylish base for the chaise longue.
The shape of the chaise longue is obtained by curving different layers of wood, obtaining its characteristic shape. A slow process that stratifies piece by piece, creating a surprising artifact. The cushions available in a wide range of fabrics and leathers have different bearing capacities and are connected to one another by carefully hidden zippers and form an articulated whole that neatly hugs the structure.
For extra comfort there is a rounded headrest which can be selected in a matching or contrasting fabric/leather and which moves independently from the square cushions. It is balanced by a metal dowel held by adjustable straps to hold it in place, allowing for customised comfort.
There are two different versions to choose from: the first integrates a eucalyptus finish with painted satin brass, the second one pairs natural sunrise oak with the brightness of stainless steel for a more contemporary effect.
