The Bonaldo Doge armchair with a covered base by Mauro Lipparini is part of a family of chairs inspired by the figure of the Doge, the head of government at the time of the Venetian “La Serenissima” Republic.
The presence of two flaps that wrap around the seat starting from the armrest are reminiscent of the Doge's headgear, giving the armchair’s shape a sense of distinction and authority. The evocation of a 1970s aesthetic, together with an explicit sense of modernity in concept and material, puts the Doge in a world where elegance and simplicity of design reign supreme.
Available in three versions, the one shown here which has an upholstered fixed or swivel base. There is also one which has a solid wood four-legged base in striking coal ash or American walnut and one with a central four-legged metal base with a swivel mechanism in a range of colours or metallic finishes, these two are listed separately and can be seen in the related products.
The three different Doge armchairs convey an immediate personal confidentiality in their appearance, revealing themselves to be casual yet elegant both in residential furnishings and in the world of hospitality.
There are lots of different choices for the upholstery, Bonaldo offer a huge range of fabrics and leathers with several categories of each and in a fantastic selection of colours. It is also possible to supply your own material, subject to approval. Samples are available to view in our showroom and some fabric samples can be posted to you.
