The Miniforms Soda coffee table in hand blown glass by Yiannis Ghikas from Italian brand Miniforms has won an amazing six design awards.
Not only a winner of the Archiproducts Design Award in 2020 we are delighted to announce that the Miniforms Soda coffee table has also won several other accolades; including a double win at the 2021 DEZEEN AWARDS where the judges commented "this is a great example of simplicity in design. The material has a poetic quality, and out of all the pieces we’ve seen, this is the most innovative and surprising."
Soda also won another double at the 2021 AZURE AWARDS for Design in the Furniture category and for being the People's Choice award in the same category. It is an amazing achievement to have been selected by an international jury for this double acknowledgment from 22 other furniture brands out of 1209 nominated submissions.
Soda was born in a Murano furnace where each table is blown, drawn-out and shaped by three master glass-makers. They are equipped with a complex system of burners to keep the same temperature throughout the mould, which is essential to give a hammered feeling to the texture.
The end result is a table weighing over 28 kilos consisting of a single volume of glass with three large petals forming the stem. Its tough, hammered surface fragments its transparency to display its artisan aesthetic. Art meets industrial design.
Following on from Soda's success, Miniforms added two new colours; blue and amethyst which join amber and petrol green. All colours are available in two sizes.
