The Molteni & C Blevio table was originally designed in 1930 by Ignazio Gardella for his family home, Villa Usuelli in Blevio on Lake Como. It has been reproduced by Molteni as part of their collaboration with the Gardella Historical Archive, the first piece in a relationship based on research and exchange and destined to develop over the years to come.
Elegant and geometrically linear, the Blevio table has a beautiful oval table top which is supported by two gently curving vertical bases in the same finish thereby emphasising the continuity of the curved table top and avoiding interruptions to the eye.
Ignazio's original table was coated in copper which would have been an extremely difficult material to use for a contemporary dining table. Molteni&C’s Research and Development Centre have replaced the copper lamina with a special eclipse metal powder varnish that has the same effect of solidity with the artisanal shine of copper, but with a greater resistance and more hard-wearing qualities.
Available in three sizes, the two smaller sizes can also be selected with a Breccia Capraia marble table top which is inserted into the aluminium surface. In addition, under the supervision of the Gardella Historical Archive, the proportions of the original design were scaled to match the heights of contemporary dining tables, thereby guaranteeing the respect of the original shape.
